MELANCHOLY ROAD

Sunset ages ago on the melancholy road

Nostalgia settled in behold the origin.

Destination her twin. Lost, searching for a win.

Orange glow, streetlights, race by like the whites.

Now neon lights ahead, refill the diesel horse.

Get the chassis back on course, we’re back on track.

Dead of nights cannons go of, Never hit by the flack.

As titans go to war, lightning such a beautiful view to adore.

They’re above and were below, and with time we leave behind the show.

Now our lights flickering, trickery of the wiring within.

Car on fleek, windows clean, blurry minds turning weak.

Life on the melancholy road.

Orange glow, lights race by, tear through the night.

Flight or fight the eternal night, a lullaby to hold.

Oh melancholy road, my lover, my fighter, my greatest foe.

Highways full on this road travelling alone.

Didn’t get the message, I’m on flight mode.

Eyes heavy exit sign ahead at the ready.

Left to right, swerving, undeciding.

How to describe? A Moonlit sky accompanying the drowsy vibe.

Seducing exit sign. Goal out of sight but clear in my mind.

Onwards through the night, no chance to rewind.

Seasons don’t matter, dark and cold all nighters.

Got the monster in hand, won’t drown out we’re fighters,

Crack of the can, sipping, contemplating our plan.

Highway for hundreds, the journey of a single man.

Life on the melancholy road.

Orange glow, lights race by, tear through the night.

Flight or fight the eternal night, a lullaby to hold.

Oh, melancholy road, my lover, my fighter, my greatest foe.

A hundred days faded by, but it’s been night all this time.

Hundreds on the journey, but in the unknown we’re all alone.

Orange lanterns, brighter then dimmer, fluctuating patterns.

Streetlights with space in between, such familiar sights

Shining brighter to foreseen dark phases in between.

A moment of glow then the dark makes it go.

The dark mystique has become a mark so bleak.

Rivers and valleys surround the roadside.

Yet the beauty passes unnoticed in the dark night.

Patiently awaiting a sunrise to behold.

So settle in, fasten the belt, let the wheels spin.

Hear the gears shift, no plans were adrift.

Car tires in perfect harmony with the tar

Night under the headlights, sober mind here we go.

Reflect on life let strife drift by like the miles.

Transcending into a state of harmony, dropping the freight.

Listening to the melody of the engine humming,

Just think, travelling lightweight, letting the world shrink.

Drifting along the path, forgetting the pasts wrath.

With a destination in mind, The goal still out of sight.

But the sunrise well find, one day we’ll reach the light.

Life on the melancholy road.

Orange glow, lights race by, tear through the night.

Flight or fight the eternal night, a lullaby to hold.

Oh, melancholy road, my lover, my fighter, my greatest foe.
